Dear Citizens,
Last June I stopped to buy some fresh
strawberries from a roadside vendor. While exchanging money, with an older gent, I heard
another person speaking behind me. Instantly I knew these two used to sell apples every
fall in my home town. The elder man said, “I first started selling apples up in
Jackman back in ‘43.” He told me he was 93. But it was his son who I didn't
forget. Sort of like a combination of Don Knotts and Ernest in one.
Well, what I am saying is that in Maine we
have a lot of colorful people. Some are some aren’t. But we’re all Mainers and
we deserve the best government our tax dollars can get. Some people do the heavy lifting,
some don’t. From the auto mechanic to our teachers, and on down the list. Maine
people doing big things. Hard working decent people. We pride ourselves on being from
Maine.
I see a bright future
for Maine. We have the people and resources to move ahead into the future.
We will become more energy efficient while
creating new jobs using corn and potatoes in ethanol production. We have the wind and
tides to harness. As Maine moves along we also need to invest more in education and job
training.
Keeping Maine healthy and affordable
weighs on every Mainer.
Presently,

Keeping all Mainers healthy is vitally important for our future. More needs to be done.
Too many of us have seen our jobs outsourced to other countries. I've given a lot of
thought on how to recapture some of those lost manufacturing jobs.

Our first resource is
our workforce.
We can get those high paying jobs back by
more investment in colleges and vocational schools. Maine State education funding is
increasing to 55% while the Federal share is decline. To move ahead we have to rise to
this challenge.
More jobs, more
education, better healthcare, fewer taxes. That is the challenge.
The future is here.
I've worked in a paper mill for the past 20
years and it is time for me to take my life experience to Augusta.
I will take your concerns to August and see
they are acted on.
There is no future in the past.
