Ramona du Houx was born in Michigan into a family background that stretches from Native American Colombia to Celtic Wales. She traveled the world as a student of Long Island University (formerly Friends' World College) where she explored the light in nature through photography.
She has taught photography, architectural drafting and design to high school students in Puerto Rico and conversational English in Kyoto and Osaka for a variety of schools and companies. While in Japan, she also gave lectures on her photographic art. Her early success launched a career with exhibits in New York, Tokyo, Puerto Rico and London.
In 1991, Ramona returned to the States to live by the Kennebec River in Maine, to complete the long-term project of writing about a mythological journey in time. In addition to publishing with Polar Bear & Company, Ramona started MAINE INSIGHTS newsmagazine and volunteers much of her time to democratic causes.
