Charity Spaghetti Dinners

Spaghetti dinners became a tradition for
Baldacci's when John Baldacci became more politically involved, following in his father's
footsteps.
"Instead of the bean suppers, we had
spaghetti suppers. With an Italian restaurant it made sense," said Governor John
Baldacci.

After twelve years in the Maine State Senate,
John ran for U.S. Congress and took his spaghetti dinners on the road, listening to people
all across the second district the largest district east of the Mississippi.
Local people weren't surprised when they would
pick up a newspaper and read about a spaghetti dinner hosted by a U.S. congressman coming
to town.
Visitors were intrigued that a Congressman
would hold spaghetti dinners and sometimes dropped in partaking in Maine's hospitality.

As Governor, John, continues the tradition
which is a first in the nation. The dinners are all about people coming together
communities sharing a good meal while getting to know one another.
Over the years the suppers have been held for a
variety of charity events to help communities in need.

The warm friendly atmosphere that accompanies
the dinners is found everyday at Baldacci's where good conversation, entertainment, and
the enjoyment of a delicious Italian meal are a reality.
